    Policy Program | Germia Hill Conference
    On February 2-3, 2016, the Aspen Institute Germany was this year’s partner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo in organizing the Germia Hill conference in Prishtina. Under the overall topic “South East European Security in Light of Wider Regional Challenges”, 180 high-level politicians, diplomats, decision-makers, and experts gathered to discuss the security challenges Europe is facing. Issues addressed included the Roles of NATO and the EU in the Western Balkans, implications of the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine for European security, international migration and its impact on European Unity, global efforts of counter narration to violent extremism, energy security as well as the future of the Euro-Atlantic Community. The conference was opened by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa. Further participants included the Deputy Prime Ministers from Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro, the Foreign Minister of Malta, the Defense Minister of Albania, and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Hungary.
