Public Program | Discussion: "Britain, Germany and the European future after Brexit”
On October 24, 2016 the Aspen Institute hosted a panel discussion with Lord Stephen K. Green of Hurstierpoint, Member of the House of Lords, former Minister of State for Trade and Investments, and former Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc. on “Britain, Germany and the European future after Brexit“. Lord Green discussed in a relaxed atmosphere with Rüdiger Lentz, Director of the Aspen Institute Germany about the Brexit impact on economy and politics. According to him, the establishment had not understood the division within the country, for example between the older and the younger generation, higher socioeconomic classes and lower ones or most and foremost between politicians and their constituents. He clarified that tailor-made arrangements would be indispensable, as he did not consider a “Norwegian Way” as very likely and rather predicted a “hard Brexit”.
