Policy Program | The Transatlantic Digital Agenda: Workshop in Brussels – Defining A Digital Social Contract
The Aspen Institute Germany, Atlantic Council, and Internet Economy Foundation organized the first workshop of their project on the Transatlantic Digital Agenda. The project explores how shared values in the transatlantic partnership can be transposed into effective policy for the digital age. Over the next three years the partners will organize a series of seminars and workshops examining different elements of the transatlantic digital agenda. The Brussels Workshop addressed the fundamental question: „Should there be a digital social contract? If so, what should be in it?“ In this context, we rooted our discussion of digital policy in the values of the Enlightenment to discuss ways to guarantee that digital transformation reinforces free trade, free markets, and free peoples. The Brussels workshop consisted of six sessions and a dinner discussion over two days.
