Democratic resilience and information integrity are among Europe’s defining challenges, particularly in the EU enlargement region. This is precisely where Aspen Institute Germany’s new project, “Connecting Futures: Information Integrity in Europe’s Next Decade. Empowering Young Media and Digital Voices from the EU’s Enlargement Region,” takes shape.
Supported by the Global Fund of the Aspen Institute International Partners and implemented in partnership with Aspen Institute Central Europe, Aspen Institute Kyiv, Aspen Institute Romania, Aspen Institute UK, and Aspen Digital, the project creates a platform to strengthen and strategically connect young media actors across the region.
Its goal is to reinforce democratic resilience and make the region’s information space more robust. Through a structured strategic foresight process, young journalists and digital opinion leaders from ten countries will jointly assess key trends and risks, develop scenarios for the decade ahead, and translate these insights into concrete policy recommendations.
Digital workshops and a study visit to Berlin will provide space for in-depth exchange, networking, and shared strategic thinking. The focus lies on safeguarding independent media, countering disinformation, and strengthening trust in public communication.
The project will culminate in a joint publication offering clear, forward-looking impulses for policy makers, stakeholders, and the wider public, contributing to a more resilient European information ecosystem.
Exact dates will be announced soon. Young media professionals and digital voices from the EU enlargement region are warmly invited to apply.
