Zum Auftakt der fünften Kohorte der „Laboratories of Democracy Initiative“ findet am Dienstag, 10. Dezember 2024, ein erstes Treffen statt. Das Projekt bringt 30 Landesgesetzgeber aus Deutschland, den USA und Kanada zusammen, um eine wertebasierte Diskussion über aktuelle internationale politische Herausforderungen auf subnationaler Ebene zu ermöglichen und neue transatlantische Netzwerke aufzubauen. Jeder Austausch ist einem Kernthema gewidmet, das auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks von Bedeutung ist. Das Thema der diesjährigen Kohorte lautet „The Bonds Which Make Our Societies: Social Cohesion and the Power of Belonging“ (Sozialer Zusammenhalt und die Macht der Zugehörigkeit), mit Schwerpunkt auf den Unterthemen Bildung, wirtschaftliche Ungleichheit und Migration.
