Inside AI Briefings

Aspen Germany’s Inside AI Briefings is a year-long series of four exclusive breakfast roundtable discussions that invites – in cooperation with AWS – policy makers, ministry staff, and think tank experts to gain clear, up-to-date insights into the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Each session features leading subject-matter experts who break down complex topics ranging from global competition, supply chain dependencies, and data governance to regulation, geopolitics, and innovation barriers in an accessible and engaging format. The briefings create a trusted space for learning, dialogue, and exchange, helping participants deepen their understanding of how AI technologies are developed, deployed, and commercialized.

By linking technical realities with strategic policy considerations, the Inside AI Briefing supports informed decision-making, strengthens digital policy expertise within the German government, and contributes to a more grounded debate on how Germany and the EU can foster responsible, competitive AI development and enhance digital sovereignty.

Sessions Overview:

Session 1: The Global AI Sector — Competition, Cooperation, and Dependencies
A look at the international AI landscape, examining global competition, supply chain dependencies, market concentration, and Germany’s and the EU’s strategic position.

Session 2: Governance and Regulation — Striking the Right Balance
An overview of current regulatory developments, including the AI Act and international standards, with a focus on fostering innovation while ensuring rights, ethics, and public trust.

Session 3: “Standort Deutschland” — Infrastructure, Security, and Sustainability
A discussion on the policies and frameworks needed to strengthen Germany’s AI infrastructure, improve security, and ensure sustainable and competitive innovation.

Session 4: Transatlantic AI — Cooperation, Market Strategy, and Strategic Outlook
An exploration of U.S.–Europe cooperation, strategies for navigating geopolitical fragmentation, and ways to jointly address emerging AI trends through aligned policy and innovation efforts.
