This year’s Aspen Institute summer reception took place on June 12. As always, the event began with a panel discussion.  This year, the Institute brought a well-established Aspen format to the live stage for the first time: Our International Press Roundtable. These discussions, until now held exclusively online, bring together journalists from a variety of international newspapers and media outlets, to investigate how political developments in Germany and on the global stage are discussed throughout Europe and in the United States.
This time, the panel focused on the foreign policy of the new German government taking shape under the title: Zeitenwende Revisited: A New Age in German Foreign Policy? The discussion featured the following panelists: Thomas Escritt (Berlin Correspondent, Thomson Reuters), John Kampfner (Author, Columnist, Foreign Affairs Specialist), Anna-Lena Laurén (Foreign Correspondent, Dagens Nyheter), Tonia Mastrobuoni (Berlin Correspondent, La Repubblica), Juliane Schäuble (U.S. Correspondent, Der Tagesspiegel), and Pascal Thibaut (Germany Correspondent, Radio France Internationale) and was moderated by Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner (Executive Director, Aspen Institute Germany).
After the discussion, the attendants concluded the evening with a reception and good conversation. The Summer Reception is a special opportunity each year to celebrate the community surrounding the Aspen Institute, make new contacts, and reconnect with old friends. A big thank you to all who joined us.
