The third and final event of the 2025 AI Tech Dialogue titled “Geopolitics Meets Cybersecurity – The Human-AI Dynamic” took place on June 16, 2025. This event offered a platform to jointly discuss the opportunities and risks of AI adoption for cybersecurity processes. At the center of discussions stood how AI is used in threat detection in both the private and the public sector and how these AI systems are targeted by malicious actors. The speakers and participants critically highlighted the role of human oversight and debated how reliant – or even over-reliant – societies already are on AI systems. Finally, we discussed ethical, geopolitical, and governance aspects such as the dependence on non-EU AI tools, balancing data privacy concerns, and the role of regulation. By bringing together key players from international institutions, governments, and the private sector, this event – hosted in collaboration with Microsoft Germany – explored how international institutions, governments, and private entities can apply the strengths of AI to mitigate critical infrastructure security threats. Attendance was by invitation only.
