Companies have a big impact on society, not only in the economic, but also in the political sphere. What does values-based leadership mean for companies in times of growing political polarization and authoritarian shifts? Do companies have a responsibility to position themselves in favor of and foster democratic values in politics and society? As the Federal Election in Germany fast approaches, what lessons can be learned by companies in their navigation of fast-changing political developments? In the context of the German Federal Election 2025, we discussed the concept of Corporate Political Responsibility (CPR), with the man who coined the term, Dr. Johannes Bohnen, Managing Partner of BOHNEN Public Affairs, along with Lisa Badum MdB, Bündnis 90/ Die Grünen, Prof. Dr. Andrea Römmele, Dean of Executive Education and Professor of Communication in Politics and Civil Society at the Hertie School, Alexander Kulitz, Former Member of the Bundestag and Vice President at ESTA Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG, and Prelate Dr. Anne Gidion, Representative of the Council of the EKD to the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Germany.
