How can cities become more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable? Over the past year, urban practitioners from Berlin, Mexico City, Nairobi, and New Delhi explored this question as part of the second Future Cities Go Global cohort. Through 14 virtual sessions and a study tour to Berlin, participants exchanged experiences and developed joint policy recommendations across three interconnected areas: inclusive urban infrastructure; education, skills, and economic mobility; and social integration and urban democracy. The recommendations address issues such as accessible public spaces and care infrastructure, digital inclusion, youth innovation and digital literacy, participatory governance, and migrant integration. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, they aim to provide practical and adaptable ideas for building more resilient, socially just, and participatory cities. The final report will be published shortly.
The project is supported by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin.
