From February 25 to March 01, 2025, the in-person meeting of the Laboratories of Democracy Initiative Cohort 2025 took place in Dresden, Germany. The 30 state and provincial legislators from the United States, Germany, and Canada met with policy makers, research institutes and representatives of the private sector, and visited best practices in Saxony. The core theme for 2025 was social cohesion. The aim of the Laboratories of Democracy initiative is to promote value-based dialog and exchange on common political challenges at the subnational level. At the same time, the exchange promotes peer learning and contributes to the development of transatlantic networks.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
