On Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, the fifth digital meeting of this year’s Laboratories of Democracy Initiative took place. The meeting focused on mapping the multiple aspects of social cohesion, as well as identifying common challenges and opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic. The 30 participants from Canada, Germany and the USA worked in independent groups and built the foundation for their delegation trip to Dresden, which took place from February 25th to March 1st, 2025. The goal of the Laboratories of Democracy Initiative is to promote values-based dialog and exchange of ideas on common political challenges at the subnational level. At the same time, the exchange promotes peer learning and helps to build transatlantic networks beyond the capital cities.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
