On November 26, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany and Telefónica Germany will host a “Digital Dish” event on “Transatlantic Tech Policy in 2025 and Beyond: U.S. Tech Policy after the Elections and Transatlantic Cooperation”. Against the backdrop of the U.S. elections, the event will shed light on what U.S. tech policy could look like starting in 2025 and how this will affect cooperation with the EU. Discussions will include whether the approaches of the United States and the EU will continue to converge or whether they will increasingly take different paths in the future. The focus will be on topics such as the regulation of artificial intelligence and the development of 5G and 6G technologies. During the event, experts from the fields of digital policy, transatlantic relations and technology will analyze the opportunities and challenges of increased cooperation between the United States and Europe. The discussion will feature Philippe Gröschel, Director Government Relations of Telefónica Deutschland; PD Dr. habil. Annegret Bendiek, Head of Research Cluster, Cybersecurity and Digital Policy, German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP); Dr. Sharinee Jagtiani, Senior Officer, GMF Tech, The German Marshall Fund of the United States; Jens Redmer, Principal, New Business Development, Google; Frank Wetzel, Head of the Department for Industry, Innovation, IT, and Communication, German Federal Chancellery and will be moderated by Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Germany. The aim of the event is to identify specific areas for closer cooperation and develop recommendations for action. The event thus offers a valuable platform for transatlantic dialogue at a time of major political and technological change.
