On June 19, 2025, a virtual meeting on “Finalizing Transatlantic Recommendations” took place for participants in the 2025 U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture. The Aspen Institute Germany and project partner, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, welcomed the sixteen participants of the 2025 cohort for a virtual meeting. As part of the project, the Institute brings together eight German and eight U.S. farmers and other agricultural stakeholders to promote innovative approaches to sustainable agricultural and rural areas and strengthen the transatlantic relationship overall. In addition to the fundamental social, economic, and political importance of agriculture for rural regions, this third cohort focuses in particular on the core issue of land use conflicts between renewable energy and agriculture in rural areas. The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
