U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture: In-person meeting in Magdeburg, Germany

    • March 31, 2025

    • April 03, 2025

From March 31 to April 3 2025, an in-person meeting for participants in the 2025 U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture took place in Magdeburg, Germany. The Aspen Institute Germany and project partner, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, welcomed the sixteen participants of the 2025 cohort for the meeting.
As part of the project, the Institute is bringing together eight German and eight U.S. farmers and other agricultural stakeholders to promote innovative approaches to sustainable agricultural and rural areas and strengthen the transatlantic relationship overall. In addition to the fundamental social, economic and political importance of agriculture for rural regions, this third cohort will focus in particular on the core issue of land use conflicts between renewable energy and agriculture in rural areas.
In addition to virtual meetings, this year’s cohort will meet in Magdeburg, Germany, March 31st to April 4th, 2025 and in Boulder, Colorado, United States, May 19th to 23rd, 2025. At these meetings, participants will discuss solutions for practice and policy, as well as transatlantic collaboration opportunities, visit best practices on the ground, and engage in exchanges with local representatives from policy, business, and academia.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
