On September 11, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany launched the project #InfluencersAgainstDisinfo: Empowering Online Opinion Leaders to Enhance Democratic Resilience in the Age of Information Manipulation. This initiative brings together influencers and content creators from across Europe, particularly from Eastern Europe, to strengthen democratic resilience and promote value-based dialogue on disinformation. Throughout 2024, participants will engage in thematic workshops, study trips, and expert exchanges to deepen their understanding of the challenges posed by disinformation. A key objective of the project is the creation of an Ethical Code of Conduct for Social Media Influencers and Content Creators, which will serve as a guideline for ethical behavior in digital communication. The kickoff event on September 11 provideed an initial opportunity for participants to connect, exchange ideas, and establish a shared understanding of common values and the diverse nature of disinformation across different countries. This event marked the beginning of a year-long journey where participants will work together to build a cross-border network aimed at strengthening democratic values in Europe. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, and supported by the Aspen Institute Central Europe and Aspen Institute Kyiv. For more information on the project, click here.
