German-American Trade and Tech Dialogue 2024-2025

German-American Trade and Tech Dialogue 2024-2025

What is GATT-D?

Building on the success of its first cycle (2022-2023), the German-American Trade and Technology Dialogue (GATT-D) has become as a central platform for shaping a common transatlantic trade and technology agenda during its second cycle (2023-2024). After these two productive years, the Aspen Institute Germany is delighted to continue the GATT-D for another year with three workshops (including multiple breakout sessions), a 1.5-day conference, as well as several reports and publications.

The changing geopolitical environment, new disruptive technologies, as well as economic and social change on both sides of the Atlantic make the GATT-D more important than ever. The GATT-D 2024-2025 will continue serving as a catalyst for progress on challenging topics, such as digitalization, the energy transition, and economic security. There is an urgent need, now more than ever, to explore common political and societal priorities in the technology and trade sphere with an eye towards fostering democratic values and principles and figuring out joint approaches toward the challenges of today. Join Aspen Germany for the third year of the GATT-D in 2024-2025!

See you at the GATT-C in Berlin!

We look forward to welcoming decision and policy makers from both sides of the Atlantic on June 24-25, 2025 for the German-American Trade and Tech Conference at the Landesvertretung Baden-Württemberg in Berlin. Please click here for the agenda, speakers, and more.

GATT-D Workshops

Three times during the project year, we will convene high-level decision makers and leading experts to identify and discuss common challenges to U.S.-German cooperation in the areas of trade and technology. These discussions will lay the groundwork for defining opportunities for cooperation and future solutions. They will foster networking among stakeholders and raise awareness of different priorities and perceptions based on different industries and countries. The GATT-D workshops will generate valuable knowledge and insights for an exclusive range of participants who shape the transatlantic trade and technology agenda.

These exclusive workshops will be held under the Chatham House Rule. The first workshop will take place in January 2025. Participants will meet again in April 2025, prior to the September 2025 workshop. The exact dates and topics of the workshops will be communicated to GATT-D participants in due course.
