20 hours/week | Berlin | September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027

Are you interested in digitalization, competitiveness, European cooperation, and transatlantic relations? Do you enjoy working in an organized manner, conducting research with curiosity, and taking on responsibility early on? If so, we look forward to getting to know you.
At Aspen Institute Germany, we address the defining political and societal challenges of our time. We bring together leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society and develop dialogue and leadership programs on topics including European security, transatlantic relations, geopolitics, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and democratic resilience.
Our Digital Program explores the political, economic, and societal implications of emerging technologies. Working with senior decision-makers from government, business, academia, and civil society, we foster transatlantic dialogue on trade, technology, and digital policy.
As a student assistant, you will become part of our Digital Team and will primarily support the project “Turning Digital Ambition into Competitiveness: A Trilateral EU Futures Initiative on Competitiveness” The project examines how the European Union can strengthen its digital competitiveness through closer cooperation between Germany, Italy, and Poland. You will assist with trilateral workshops, delegation trips, and high-level events; support publications and communication efforts; and gain comprehensive insights into the work of an internationally networked think tank. In addition, you will contribute to other projects within the Digital Program.
The position is for 20 hours per week and offers you the opportunity to gain practical experience in international project management and build a unique professional network.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide organizational and technical support in the preparation, delivery, and follow-up of conferences, workshops, and events (virtual, hybrid, and in-person in Berlin, Rome, and Brussels).
  • Conduct research and contribute to the preparation of events, reports, and publications.
  • Assist with participant management and the coordination of national and international guests.
  • Support the Institute’s social media activities and the creation of digital content.
  • Assist with project analyses, reporting, and the maintenance of project databases.
  • Support the Institute’s leadership and project team with administrative tasks.

Your Profile

  • You are currently enrolled in a relevant university degree program.
  • You have a strong interest in international affairs, digital policy, economic policy, and technology.
  • You have an excellent command of both German and English, written and spoken. Polish or Italian language is an asset.
  • You have experience using social media professionally.
  • Experience with graphic design or layout software is an advantage.
  • You work independently, are well organized, and pay close attention to detail.
  • You are a proactive team player with strong organizational skills.

What We Offer

  • A varied role with insights into the work of an internationally active public policy think tank.
  • The opportunity to take on responsibility from an early stage and manage your own areas of work.
  • Hands-on experience in international project management and the organization of high-level conferences and events.
  • Exposure to collaboration with leading decision-makers from government, business, academia, and civil society.
  • Participation in events and conferences from Aspen Institute Germany.
  • The opportunity to contribute to transatlantic projects addressing the future of digital policy, trade, and technology.
  • A dedicated and collaborative team with short decision-making processes, an open working atmosphere, and room for your own ideas.
  • Flexible working hours, the option to work remotely by agreement, and competitive compensation.
