Student Assistant (m/f/d) – Transatlantic – U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture

10 hours/week | Berlin | As soon as possible – September 30, 2027

The Aspen Institute Germany is seeking a student assistant to join its Transatlantic Program for 10 hours per week from September, 2026, through September 30, 2027, with the possibility of an extension. In this role, you will support the “U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture,” an exchange program for farmers and other key agricultural stakeholders, as well as our other transatlantic initiatives.

The Aspen Institute Germany was founded in Berlin in 1974. The Institute is committed to the values of an open society and promotes values-based leadership, constructive dialogue, and Euro-Atlantic cooperation. As an independent, non-profit organization, Aspen Germany is part of the global Aspen Network, with partners in the United States, Central Europe (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia), France, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Colombia, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. Together, the Institutes are committed to addressing the challenges of the 21st century.

Your Responsibilities

  • Research potential participants, speakers, experts, and partner organizations, and assist with outreach
  • Conduct background and thematic research and support the planning of the U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture
  • Assist with the logistical and organizational preparation, implementation, and follow-up of virtual, hybrid, and in-person project events
  • Compile event materials, including programs, participant and speaker biographies, and background reading
  • Provide technical support for virtual and hybrid events
  • Support communications and public-relations activities, including drafting content for social media and the Institute’s website
  • Perform other duties as needed

Your Profile

  • Enrollment in a relevant degree program, such as political science, international relations, North American studies, agricultural studies, or environmental studies
  • No agriculture background-knowledge needed
  • A strong interest in transatlantic relations
  • Experience in organizing events
  • Experience with social media communications
  • A committed, detail-oriented, and reliable approach to work
  • A flexible, self-motivated, and collaborative working style
  • Full professional proficiency in German and English
