Socrates Seminars

For decades, Socrates Seminars have been at the heart of the Aspen Institute’s worldwide programming, bringing together curious minds, bold thinkers, and rising leaders to dive deep into the pressing questions of our time. These dynamic, discussion-based seminars offer a unique chance to engage directly with selected philosophical and topical texts, challenge your assumptions, and broaden your perspective – all under the guidance of a seasoned expert moderator.

Socrates Seminars spark lively debate, encourage values-driven reflection, and sharpen leadership skills in an atmosphere of intellectual rigor and open dialogue. Participants leave with fresh insights, powerful connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. In the seminars, participants are given the opportunity to contribute and react to selected texts on a crucial topic, guided by the expertise of a moderator who specializes in this particular sector. Participants develop an understanding of the reading material and formulate responses to the issues that they cover at the roundtable meetings. The seminar provides stimulating dialogue, values-based introspection, and dynamic debate that serves to enhance participants’ leadership capabilities.

Aspen Germany has been organizing Socrates Seminars since 2024. They serve as an opportunity to cooperate with the international Aspen community, bringing together participants from all over the world to discuss concrete and contemporary political challenges in a confidential environment and under the moderation of an experienced expert.
