    • September 14, 2017

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the State Department-German Federal Foreign Office Exchange program, the U.S. Embassy Berlin and the Federal Foreign Office hosted a conversation on the state of transatlantic relations with Conrad Tribble, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and top U.S. diplomat to Western Europe and the EU, and Andreas Michaelis, State Secretary in the German Federal Foreign Office. The off-the-record discussion was moderated by Aspen’s Executive Director Rüdiger Lentz and included many diplomatic exchange alumni. The wide-ranging conversation touched on topics including the EU, North Korea, Iran, Turkey, climate change, TTIP, Russia, the Ukraine and energy. Kent Logsdon, Acting U.S. Ambassador to Berlin, provided introductory remarks.
