Leadership Program

Liberal values in Western societies are increasingly witnessing backlash and opposition. Liberal ideas are challenged by populist narratives, democratic backsliding, and a changing geopolitical landscape. Unprecedented matters such as the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous climate disasters, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have required us to reevaluate the current state of affairs. While decision-makers are under pressure to find resilient and sustainable solutions, our societies’ empathy, solidarity, and endurance is put to the test.

Aspen Germany’s Leadership Program is dedicated to fostering value-based leadership across politics, business, civil society, the arts, and academia. Our program strives to strengthen the moral compass of our society’s diverse leaders’ and provides a space to discuss contemporary challenges of leadership against the backdrop of an ever-changing world. Our Leadership Program is unique in its framework. We do not work on building specific skills but instead provide the space for critical reflection of one’s own perspectives and moral compass. By bringing bright minds together, we seek to encourage innovative, resilient leadership in all sectors of life.

Our events are exclusive and continue to evolve with the challenges that arise. The program consists of our regular event series Leadership in Times of Crisis and our exclusive Aspen Leadership Seminar “Philosophy and Practice”, which takes place over three days and is chaired by two renowned moderators from excellent universities.

Leadership in Times of Crisis

Aspen Germany’s Leadership Program is dedicated to strengthening value-based leadership in society. Through the digital “Leadership in Times of Crisis” event series, the Institute regularly engages in a dialogue with leaders from diverse sectors of society about the challenges and responsibilities they face in today’s world.
