External links
Our website as well as our social media channels contain links to other sites and organizations that may be of interest to our visitors. The Aspen Institute Deutschland e.V. assumes no responsibility or liability for and has no control over the content or accuracy of the linked sites.
Social media channels
The Aspen Institute has an online presence within social networks (Facebook, Twitter) in order to communicate with our partners, potential members and social media users and to inform them about our activities. It is worth noting that our users’ data may be processed outside of the European Union. This may result in risks to users, since this may make it harder to enforce users’ rights. Any US providers that are certified under the Privacy Shield are committed to respecting EU privacy standards.
In addition, users’ data may be processed for market research and promotional purposes. For example, user profiles indicating interests can be created from the user’s online behavior. These profiles can be used, for example, to place advertisements inside and outside the platforms that are presumably in line with users’ interests. For these purposes, cookies in which trackuser behavior and interests are usually stored on users’ computers. Furthermore, these profiles can also contain data that is stored independently of the devices used (in particular if the users are members of the respective platforms and are logged in to them).
The processing of users’ personal data is based on our legitimate interests in effective communication with users. For a detailed description of the respective processing and the possibilities of refutation (opt-out), we refer to the following linked information of the provider. Additionally, in the case of requests for information and the assertion of user rights, we point out that these can be claimed most effectively from the providers. Only the providers have access to user data and can directly take appropriate measures and provide information:
Facebook (Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Irland); Privacy Policy
Twitter (Twitter Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA); Privacy Policy

Integration of services and contents from third parties
In the interests of our analysis, optimization, and the operation of our online presence, we use third party content or services to integrate their content and services. This always presupposes that the third-party providers of these contents recognize the IP address of the users, as required to send the content to their browser. The IP address is therefore required for the presentation of this content. Third parties may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as “web beacons”) for statistical or marketing purposes. The “pixel tags” can be used to evaluate information such as visitor traffic on the pages of the website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user’s device and may include, but is not limited to, technical information about the browser and operating system, referring web pages, visit time, and other information regarding the use of our online profiles.
