Some global threats have been looming on the horizon for some time, but sometimes they take us by surprise. Experts predicted a virus capable of causing a pandemic decades ago, and yet the world had not expected it. In fact, COVID-19 showed how vulnerable the globalized world is to pandemics. More recently, Russia’s war against Ukraine has made us aware of how fragile international peace can be. For this reason, the Public Program launched a new event series titled “Global Threats Series” in 2022. The exclusive expert discussions will cover diverse global such as the Russian war on Ukraine, climate change and natural disasters, cyber-attacks and espionage, maritime crime and the Indo-Pacific, and health crises. The events, which take place in person as far as COVID-19 regulations allow, are accompanied by expert interviews on social media.
