On Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany, in cooperation with the Aspen Institute Romania, hosted the next event of our virtual event series Ambassadors’ Talk. We were pleased to welcome the Romanian Ambassador to Germany, Adriana-Loreta Stănescu and the German Ambassador to Romania, Peer Gebauer, to this talk.
Under the headline of “Romania-Germany Relations in Challenging Times for European Security” the speakers discussed the current state of German-Romanian relations and European security. We also focused on the views of the two countries on the future of NATO, as well as on support for Ukraine, and EU enlargement. Another topic discussed were the perspectives of Romania and Germany regarding the threats to democracy and the rule of law in both countries in the context of this year’s elections in Europe, Germany, and Romania.
