America’s Choice: Convention without a Live Audience – The Virtual Democratic National Convention

    • August 21, 2020

This year the Democrats will have to do without speeches in front of a cheering audience and a big balloon drop. For the first time in history, the nominating convention takes place virtually. But can virtual and recorded speeches inspire viewers and help mobilize voters? How did speakers address the triple crisis of a pandemic, an economic recession, and social protests throughout the country? What were the highlights and core messages of the Democratic National Convention? David Deißner, Executive Director at Atlantik-Brücke, and Tyson Barker, Deputy Executive Director and Fellow at Aspen Germany, are joined by Sarah Wagner, Education Manager at the Atlantic Academy, and Dr. Danyal Bayaz, Member of the Bundestag (Alliance 90/The Greens), to discuss all things DNC.
