America’s Choice: The West’s Response to China

    • May 31, 2021

    • February 04, 2023

The People‘s Republic of China represents a geostrategic, economic, technological, and security challenge for the United States and the European Union. Europe’s interests vis-à-vis China are somewhat different from those of the United States. This has far-reaching consequences for the respective policies of the United States and the EU with regard to China. What are the European Union’s core political and economic interests vis-à-vis China? What is Europe’s main criticism of the communist leadership of the People’s Republic? What are the United States’ primary objectives in the “Great Power Competition” with China? And does the fight against climate change as a global challenge offer opportunities for Western cooperation with China? The podcast hosts Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of the Aspen Germany, and Dr. David Deißner, Executive Director of the Atlantik-Brücke, are joined by Ambassador Boris Ruge, Vice Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, and Dr. Mareike Ohlberg, Senior Fellow in the Asia Program of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

“America’s Choice – Der USA-Podcast” is a German-language podcast on U.S. politics, co-produced by the Aspen Institute Germany and the Atlantik-Brücke. The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms.
