On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany organized a panel discussion “Bridging the Gap: Global Perspectives in Supply Chain Risk Management” in cooperation with Deloitte.
In today’s highly interconnected world, managing supply chain risks is crucial yet increasingly complex to both governments and international business alike, in particular from a regulatory perspective. With countries around the world at different stages of development and facing unique, but similar challenges – from environmental degradation to natural resource depletion and geopolitical upheavals – there is a pressing need to explore more comprehensive, integrative strategies that address these issues proactively as part of building more efficient supply chain risk management frameworks – whilst promoting sustainable practices and facilitating global governmental & public-private cooperation.
Together with Yadir Salazar Meija, Colombian Ambassador to Germany; Oliver Röseler, Head of Corporate Representation Berlin, DHL Group; Kathrin Henneberger, Member of the German Bundestag, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen; Nick Heine, Chief Customer Officer & Chief Sustainability Officer, IntegrityNext; Anne Lauenroth, Deputy Head of Department, BDI; and Michael Windfuhr, Deputy Director of the German Institute for Human Rights, we discussed the following questions: How do the challenges in Supply Chain Risk Management differ between countries of the Global South and Global North? How can effective communication and collaboration between different actors on a global level be strengthened and differences be bridged? And finally, in what way can international organizations and agreements promote a unified approach to Supply Chain Risk Management?
The discussion was moderated by Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of Aspen Germany and was followed by an informal get-together with snacks and drinks.
