Aspen International Committee Meeting in Berlin

    • March 27, 2019
  • -
    • March 29, 2019

For the first time in over 30 years, the Aspen Institute Germany welcomed the Presidents and Chairmen of all Aspen Institutes from 13 countries around the globe for the annual International Committee Meeting in Berlin on March 27-29. Highlights on the agenda were an exclusive dinner discussion with Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Chairwoman of the CDU Germany, as well as a reception at the Rotes Rathaus co-hosted by the Governing Mayor of Berlin. Naturally, discovering Berlin’s historical and political sights was also a must during a city tour guided by Rüdiger Lentz, Executive Director of Aspen Institute Germany. Despite the full-packed schedule, lack of sleep, and the typical “Berlin weather,” the international participants thoroughly enjoyed seeing and learning about the many possibilities this city has to offer. A visit of the annual AI conference on „Humanity Defined: Politics and Ethics in the AI Age” at the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg was an additional and much appreciated benefit of this year’s meeting.
