On June 13, 2019 the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a background discussion on the current situation in Albania and North Macedonia with regards to the possible opening of EU accession negotiations with both countries this year. Sabine Stöhr, Head of the Western Balkans Division at the Federal Foreign Office and Alexander Jung, Deputy Head of Division 212 Bilateral Relations to the Countries of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Federal Chancellery discussed the EU accession process and latest developments in the two countries with staffers of the German Bundestag.
