Berlin Process Civil Society and Think Tank Forum 2022 – Digital Preparatory Workshop

    • October 19, 2022

    • October 20, 2022

On October 19-20, the Aspen Institute Germany was co-hosting the Digital Preparatory Workshop of the Civil Society & Think Tank Forum 2022 in the framework of the Berlin Process. In partnership with the Southeast Europe Association and with generous support from the German Federal Foreign Office, Aspen Germany provided a platform for civil society representatives and think tankers from all six Western Balkan countries and from the EU to discuss a variety of issues pertaining to the region.
Since 2014, the Berlin Process supports the Western Balkan countries’ EU accession process through annual summits in alternating European cities. To strengthen the voice of civil society in these high-level talks, the summit is accompanied by a Civil Society & Think Tank Forum, which the Aspen Institute Germany is delighted to co-host for the second consecutive year in 2022. This preparatory workshop was the first of two successive events as part of the Civil Society & Think Tank Forum. Participants gathered in thematic working groups to develop specific policy recommendations on key topics such as the EU integration process, information disorder, the Green Agenda and infrastructure investments. These recommendations were composed in preparation of a conference, where the results from the workshop will be discussed with government officials from the Western Balkans and other European countries in Berlin shortly before the Berlin Process Summit.
