On September 6, 2018, the Aspen Institute Germany in cooperation with the Center for Liberal Modernity and the Embassy of the United States of America in Berlin hosted a Brown Bag Lunch with Alina Polyakova, David M. Rubenstein Fellow – Foreign Policy, Center on the United States and Europe, The Brookings Institution, on the topic “After Helsinki: Reassessing US Policy Toward Russia and Ukraine.” The Brown Bag started with a short input statement by Alina Polyakova and a response by Marieluise Beck, Director for East-Central and Eastern Europe, Center for Liberal Modernity. In the following discussion with moderator Tyson Barker, Program Director and Fellow at the Aspen Institute Germany, all participants discussed the current US Policy toward Russia and Ukraine, how it corresponds to German and European interests, and what potential developments can be expected in the future.
