On February 19, 2018, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a Brown Bag Lunch with Dr. Amanda Sloat, Robert Bosch Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Metin Hakverdi, member of the German Bundestag (SPD), to discuss the Munich Security Conference 2018 and the new U.S. National Security Strategy. After a quick recap of the Munich Security Conference by Dr. Sloat, Metin Hakverdi, and Aspen’s Executive Director Rüdiger Lentz, the participants engaged in an honest discussion about the new U.S. National Security Strategy and its implications for the transatlantic community in a fragmenting world. What particularly stood out about the discussion was the unused potential for collaboration and the need to recommit to the transatlantic relationship.
