Cafe Kyiv – We Choose Freedom

The Aspen Institute Germany is grateful for the opportunity to have once again supported the past event “Cafe Kyiv – We Choose Freedom” as a proud partner. The Cafe Kyiv was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with over 30 renowned partner organizations. With the recorded participation of around than 5,000 participants, this event constituted a dynamic day full of workshops, discussions, salons and cultural activities. Key themes were freedom, Europe, security and reconstruction.
One year after the first edition of “Cafe Kyiv”, the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine continues. This conflict not only threatens the sovereignty of Ukraine, but also poses a serious danger to Europe and liberal democracy. In addition to continuing to support Ukraine, our focus this year was on placing greater emphasis on the country’s European future. Together with top-class representatives from politics, business and culture, we once again created a unique atmosphere. This was characterized by all-day political discussions, artistic performances, a pop-up market and culinary offerings. Ten years after the Revolution of Dignity, we sent a clear signal with “Cafe Kyiv” in Berlin in 2024: Ukraine’s future lies in Europe. We celebrated this important milestone together and showed our solidarity with Ukraine and its quest for freedom and European integration.
The Cafe Kyiv took place on February 19, 2024, from 8:30am to 11:30pm in the Colosseum at Gleimstraße 33, 10437 Berlin, Germany.
