Discussion “The EU in Disarray – What Will Become of the Western Balkans?”

To conclude its Southeast Europe Program 2017, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a public evening event with a discussion among Bernd Hüttemann, Secretary General of the European Movement Germany, Sonja Licht, President of Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Sabine Stöhr, Head of Division 209 Western Balkans in Federal Foreign Office, and Helge Tolksdorf, Head of the Division for EU Enlargement, Southeast Europe and Turkey in the Directorate-General for European Policy of the German Federal Ministry of Economics, on “The EU in Disarray – What Will Become of the Western Balkans?”. The main topics of discussion were the effects of the political situation inside the EU on the Western Balkans, the return of geo-politics to the region, and the expectations for the European Commission’s new enlargement strategy.
