On September 05, 2023, the Aspen Institute Germany hosts an online workshop as part of the project “Disinformation and the Role of Social Media Influencers in Times of Crises, Conflicts, and Wars” with the topic “Generative AI & the Effects on Disinformation”.
The project brings together seventeen social media influencers and content creators from Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Latvia with other actors to discuss their role in democratic societies in times of conflict. Over the course of 2023, a selected group of influencers and content creators will exchange lessons learned, meet with academics, experts, and decision-makers, and discuss mechanisms of disinformation online and how to counter them. Participants will work together on recommendations to be presented to policymakers, social media platforms, and civil society organizations.
While generative AI offers huge possibilities, it also presents new challenges in the context of disinformation and misinformation. The workshop aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the possibilities and limitations of generative AI models such as text and image generation, deepfakes, and chatbots. Through case studies, participants will learn techniques and tools for identifying AI-generated content. They will also discuss ethical considerations and policy implications.
Please note: This event is not open to the public.
