Exclusive Dinner in Honor of the Board of Trustees

On December 4, 2023, Aspen Germany hosted an exclusive dinner with Dr. Carsten Siebert, Chancellor of the Barenboim-Said Akademie, at the China Club Berlin. At the Barenboim-Said Akademie, students from the Middle East not only come together to study music, but also to learn, discuss and reflect together. In conversation with Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Managing Director of the Aspen Institute Germany, Dr. Siebert reported on how students and staff deal with the unbearable tensions, fears and threats in their everyday lives, which have been intensified by the war in Israel and Gaza. Two young students from Israel and Palestine opened the evening with a cello-bass duet and enriched the discussion with their very personal experiences of recent weeks.
