Yesterday, April 5, 2022, Aspen Germany hosted an exclusive roundtable discussion with a delegation of Ukrainian reform leaders. The delegation included Victoria Voytsitska, former Member of Parliament of Ukraine and former Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on Fuel-Energy, Nuclear Policies and Security, Olena Halushka, Board Member of the Anticorruption Action Center, Inna Nelles, Cofounder and Expert at Public Interest Journalism Laboratory, Kyiv, and Olha Sytnyk, Social Entrepreneur and Civic Activist. The discussion was moderated by Eva Katharina Deininger, General Manager at xtracake GmbH and Member of the Management Board of the Verein der Freunde. Aspen Germany thanks the speakers for their candor, their insight, and for sharing their perspectives with the participants. The conversation focused on the current state of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, specifically on challenges and possibilities for military and humanitarian assistance, issues concerning the reliance on Russia for European energy needs, as well as the successes and shortfalls of economic sanctions against Russia. During the discussion, the speakers urged the West to increase their military assistance and advocated for an embargo on Russian oil, gas, and coal.
