    • April 17, 2024

    • April 17, 2024

On April 17, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany and FGS Global are jointly hosting the “Transatlantic Tides Event”, at the Restaurant im Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin. We are delighted to welcome high-ranking experts from the German and American public and private policy sector. Speakers including Michael Feldman, Partner and Co-Chairman of FGS Global North America and former Senior Advisor to U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Dr. Emily Haber, Former German Ambassador to the United States as well as former State Secretary in the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, William Klein, Partner at FGS Global and former Deputy U.S. Ambassador in Beijing, Eckart von Klaeden, Vice president and Head of External Affairs at Mercedes Benz Group.

The “Transatlantic Tides Event” aims to underscore the importance of the 2024 U.S. election year and its impact on U.S.-European relations. Discussions will focus on key issues expected to influence the U.S. elections, offering insights into the political climate and voter priorities. A significant part of the dialogue will revolve around geopolitical realignment and transatlantic security, examining the influence of foreign affairs on U.S. politics and the global implications of the U.S. elections. The event will also address potential shifts in U.S.-European relations, particularly with Germany, and the private sector’s perspectives in these changing geopolitical circumstances.

Another major topic is economic policies, technology, and green industrial strategies. The forum will explore transatlantic trade and economic relations, considering past interactions with U.S. administrations and the alignment of presidential candidates’ policies with environmental and industrial initiatives. Additionally, the discussion will encompass U.S.-Germany economic relations and the varied U.S. and EU views on China’s role in global trade and technology. The event will also critically assess democracy and future transatlantic leadership, especially in terms of the U.S.’s adherence to democratic norms and the political dynamics affecting transatlantic leadership.

Overall, the “Transatlantic Tides Event” promises to be a profound convergence of expert opinions and discussions, paving the way for a deeper understanding and shaping of transatlantic relations in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
