The Aspen Institute Germany hosted the second German-American Trade and Tech Conference (GATTC) on March 19-20, 2024 at the Landesvertretung Baden-Württemberg in Berlin. Under the title “Trade, Tech and Transformation: Transatlantic Visions in Action,” the conference aimed to elevate the discussion of German-American and European-American cooperation to a broader level, bringing together a variety of perspectives and stakeholders.
As a key part of the German-American Trade and Tech Dialogue (2023-2024), the 1.5 day conference in Berlin sought to foster understanding and trust among key German and U.S. policy-makers as well as business and think tank representatives. It contained a mix of formats, ranging from keynotes and two/three-on-one discussions to fishbowls and breakout sessions. Therefore, the participants had numerous opportunities to engage with thought-provoking ideas and foster constructive dialogue on issues regarding U.S.-German tech cooperation, including technology and democracy, digital supply chain resilience, research and development, standards and regulation, and national security.
