On May 2, 2022, Aspen Germany hosted the second virtual meeting for the participating German state legislators of its Laboratories of Democracy Initiative and welcomed Boris Vormann, Professor of Politics and Director of the Politics Concentration at Bard College Berlin, as an expert and speaker. Mr. Vormann’s presentation and the subsequent joint exchange addressed governance in the United States at the federal, state, and local level to lay the foundation for all upcoming discussions in this project. It gave the seven parliamentarians from Germany the opportunity to learn more about the U.S.-American political system and the distribution of power and responsibilities. With regard to the focus topic of the second round of exchanges, a special emphasis was placed on climate and energy policy.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
