    • February 15, 2024
On February 15, 2024, Aspen Germany hosted the third virtual meeting of its Laboratories of Democracy Initiative for the participating state and provincial legislators from the US and Canada entitled “Germany 101 – Competencies of Germany’s Länder”. Andrea Römmele, Dean of Executive Education and Professor of Communication in Politics and Civil Society at the Hertie School, joined the meeting as an expert and speaker. Prof. Dr. Römmele’s presentation and the subsequent joint exchange addressed governance in Germany at the federal, state, and local level to lay the foundation for all upcoming discussions in this project. It gave the twenty state and provincial legislators from the United States and Canada the opportunity to learn more about the German political system and the distribution of power and responsibilities. With regard to the focus topic of the third round of exchanges, a special emphasis was placed on critical infrastructure.

The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
