On April 4, 2023, Aspen Germany hosted the second virtual meeting for the participating German state legislators of its Laboratories of Democracy Initiative and welcomed Dr. Philipp Adorf, Research Associate at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn, as an expert and speaker. Dr. Adorf’s presentation and the subsequent joint exchange addressed governance in the United States at the federal, state, and local level to lay the foundation for all upcoming discussions in this project. It gave the eight state legislators from Germany the opportunity to learn more about the political system and the distribution of power and responsibilities in the United States. With regard to the focus topic of the third round of exchanges, a special emphasis was placed on structural transformation.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
