On February 18, 2019, the Aspen Institute Germany had the pleasure of welcoming Peter Beyer, Member of the Bundestag and the German government’s Transatlantic Coordinator, and Jim Townsend, Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD), for a debrief on the 2019 Munich Security Conference. Our distinguished guests shared exclusive insights and their main takeaways from this year’s conference. On the table was the state of transatlantic relations, Germany’s role in a changing global order, and the importance of the MSC that allowed for constructive and open exchange despite diverging views on matters of mutual concern.
