The MSC connects leaders and experts from around the world to discuss security issues on a global stage. Almost exactly one year after Russia invaded Ukraine and in view of the ongoing war in Europe, the main issue at the Munich Security Conference is once again: Russia and Ukraine. On February 19th, 2023, BerlinDialogue, the Aspen Institute Germany and the American Council on Germany hosted an exclusive MSC side event entitled “The Russian-Ukraine War and European Security. Defense and Deterrence 2023”. Our exclusive MSC side event brought together security policy experts from the US and Europe to discuss the current status of the military and political situation and the future of European security. The off-the-record exchange also addressed the specific issues of further military support for Ukraine, and how best to coordinate this between the US, the EU and NATO, and how to build and foster a European arms industry.
