On May 20-21, 2019 the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a conference on “Strengthening Regional Parliamentary Cooperation in Support For RYCO and Parliaments’ Engagement in the Berlin Process and Beyond” in cooperation with the Franco-German Youth Office. The conference was supported by the German Foreign Office, RYCO, and Crossborder Factory. The aim of the conference was to support the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) as engine of regional cooperation and as the voice of the young generation, as well as to develop and discuss concrete ideas for regional cooperation among parliamentarians of the Western Balkans. During the conference the participants furthermore reflected on how the parliaments could be involved in the Berlin process more closely. The conference brought together Parliamentarians from the Western Balkans, Members of the German Bundestag and the French Assemblée Nationale. Building on experiences of parliamentary cooperation between Germany and France, the conference discussed furthermore thematic areas and potential frameworks of regional cooperation and support for RYCO for Members of Parliament in the Western Balkans.
