Road to Election Night | Virtual Discussion “Politics in the New World Presidential Approval, COVID-19, and the 2020 Election”

    • May 28, 2020

On May 28, 2020, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a virtual discussion on the topic “Politics in the New World: Presidential Approval, COVID-19, and the 2020 Election” with Carroll Doherty, Director of Political Research at Pew Research Center. In a conversation with Rüdiger Lentz, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Germany, Carroll Doherty explained how President Trump is perceived by US citizens during the current crisis. Based on ideological and geographical lines, where and by whom is he seen as an effective leader? And how might COVID-19 affect the circumstances of the upcoming presidential election? Months away from Election Day, a divisive debate on vote by mail versus growing concerns about voter fraud is already in full swing. This session of our virtual event series “Road to Election Night 2020” will focused on the pandemic’s implications for trends in US political values and US views on policy issues and priorities.
This recorded discussion is available on Aspen Germany’s YouTube channel.
