On May 30, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany and the Association of Friends of the Aspen Institute hosted our annual Summer Reception on the occasion of the annual general meeting of the Association of Friends of the Aspen Institute Germany. After a hugely successful and insightful event last year, this year’s edition featured esteemed guests Dr. Anton Hofreiter, Member of Bundestag and Chair of the Committee on European Affairs, and Dr. Linn Selle, President of the European Movement Germany. Together, we delved into the pressing issue of today’s challenges to the EU with topics such as climate transformation, Russia’s war against Ukraine, the EU enlargement process, institutional blockades, migration, democratic backsliding and social division within member states. As is tradition, the discussion was followed by a summer reception in the courtyard of the Mendelssohn-Remise.
