On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a discussion on “The Current State of Russia Sanctions and Russia Containment Policy” in the ongoing “The Future of Ukraine” series. The debate brought together Valeriya Melnichuk, Advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and working group coordinator on the Financial Action Taskforce and Russia risk, as well as John Lough, Chatham House Associate Fellow and Ukrainian’s working group Advisor debating the question of which conclusions can be drawn for Ukraine’s future.
In conversation with Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of The Aspen Institute Germany, Valeriya Melnichuk and John Lough delved into the implementation of Russia sanctions by Germany, the EU, and the USA and tried to answer the question of which conclusions and implications could be drawn for Ukraine’s future. As part of this discussion, they also analyzed the challenges of containing Russian influence globally.
