On January 24, 2017, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted an exclusive discussion at the China Club in Berlin with H.E. Martin Erdmann, currently ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkey. The topic of the event was: “The strong man on the Bosporus: What does President Erdoğan want?“. In a conversation with Rüdiger Lentz, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Germany, current topics pertaining to EU-Turkey relations were discussed, with special emphasis on the German-Turkish relationship. The discussion focused equally on the collaboration in managing the refugee crisis and on the future cooperation within NATO, as well as on the significance of the trade relationship and the present national and global political developments.
